TODAY October 17th at 12PM Pacific (1PM MDT, 2PM CDT, 3PM EDT) The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS.Org) is hosting a free webinar with guest speaker and simulation specialist Valen Anderson. Ms. Anderson will be presenting on her recent experience at the SimGHOSTS 2013 conference at the San Antonio Texas College School of Nursing and Allied Health Complex. She will be discussing a variety of topics she learned from the three day conference, including robot maintenance & programming, audiovisual equipment, and IT innovations. Valen Anderson is a Simulation Technician at NorthShore Center for Simulation and Innovation (NCSI) in Evanston, Illinois. NCSI is a state-of-the-art 13,000 square foot facility, accredited by the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH), American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and is a teaching affiliate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Valen joined NCSI’s team in the summer of 2012 and is responsible for supporting mannequin-based, task-trainer-based, and hybrid simulation activities in the simulation center as well as in the hospital. She operates an expansive selection of mannequin simulators, as well as the audiovisual recording system, B-Line Medical. Other responsibilities include communication with faculty to determine program details, working with vendors for upgrades or troubleshooting, and developing scenarios and curricula for the Center. She attended the SimGHOSTS 2013 Conference in San Antonio Texas, and continues to collaborate with the SimGHOSTS community.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Pepperdine University in 2012. During her scholastic career she assisted in Cellular Biology Research with Dr. Jay Brewster, contributing to the publicationEndoplasmic reticulum stress or mutation of an EF-hand Ca2+-binding domain directs the FKBP65 rotamase to an ERAD-based proteolysis, and studied abroad in the Galapagos Islands alongside Dr. Rodney Honeycutt. Prior to enrollment at Pepperdine, Valen studied internationally in Europe for 10 years. She attended the American School of The Hague, the Netherlands, and the International School of Bern, Switzerland. Valen can be reached by her email.
