Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist

The Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist will play a pivotal role in the technical operations of the healthcare simulation center at Colby Sawyer College’s School of Nursing and Health Professions. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities related to simulation equipment, scheduling, maintenance, and inventory/supply management.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Operations:
   1. Operate and maintain simulation equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
   2. Collaborate with faculty and simulation educators to set up and facilitate realistic healthcare scenarios.
   3. Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely solutions during simulation sessions.
2. Equipment Maintenance:
   1. Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all simulation equipment.
   2. Conduct regular inspections, calibrations, and repairs as needed.
   3. Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and repairs.
3. Scheduling:
   1. Manage the scheduling of simulation sessions in coordination with faculty, ensuring the efficient use of simulation resources.
   2. Coordinate with various departments to schedule maintenance and upgrades without disrupting educational activities.
4. Inventory and Supply Management:
   1. Maintain an accurate inventory of simulation supplies and equipment.
   2. Monitor usage and reorder supplies as necessary to ensure seamless operations.
   3. Establish relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
5. Training and Support:
   1. Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the proper use of simulation equipment.
   2. Offer technical support during simulation sessions and address any user concerns promptly.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare technology, biomedical engineering, simulation technology) preferred.
• Experience in operating and maintaining healthcare simulation equipment.
• Two years of experience as a Sim Tech or equivalent desired.
• Ability to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs) and move manikins (more than 25 lbs) with the assistance of others.
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of healthcare simulation best practices and industry standards.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

• Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist Certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Yellowbelt training within 1 year of hire.
• AHA BLS Certification within 1 year of hire.
