iSIM Courses – One of the Longest Running Debriefing & Facilitator Courses! July 29 – 31 & October 9 – 11 at WISER in Pittsburgh
This 3-day internationally renowned program, created in collaborative effort between WISER at the University of Pittsburgh (celebrating 25 years!) and the Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education at the University of Miami, is designed as an introduction to fundamental skills and abilities for delivering simulation-based healthcare education through a variety of techniques and technologies. The program emphasizes hands-on activities and active participation to maximize simulation-based instruction skill acquisition. Class group sizes are kept small to allow for maximum participation. Jump Simulation Workshops in Debriefing, Patient Safety, and More! Various Dates
Jump Simulation was created to improve outcomes and lower health care costs through innovative simulation training of medical professionals. They are part of OSF Innovation, an initiative that was created as a means to embrace change and take on the largest health care challenges. Jump Sim programs and objectives are key to improving the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of care for community members across the region. Fundamentals of Debriefing – May 29 – June 5 & July 29 – August 6 in Albuquerque, New Mexico
After completing four hours of online didactic modules and an online exam, healthcare simulation educators will gather to practice and evaluate their own debriefing methods through authentic practice in CNM’s Simulation Center for Advanced Training and Education. The result will be better effectiveness in conducting a debriefing session when teaching. Fundamentals of Debriefing has been approved for 8.75 contact hours of continuing nursing education. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the New Mexico Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The Master Debriefer Course provides the advanced content, strategies and tools necessary to transform debriefing conversations into vehicles of change within healthcare environments. This immersive 3.5-day course focuses on improving debriefing skills by weaving through several important elements of debriefing and feedback practice: Creating and maintaining a safe environment for learning conversations, tailoring advanced debriefing techniques to learning context, nurturing an environment for learner-centeredness during debriefing, working effectively and efficiently with a co-facilitator, and managing difficult and/or emotional learning conversations. The WISER WATFORD team invites you to join them in promoting safety and quality through simulation based education. The event will showcase the work and experience of industry professionals including Professor Guillaume Alinier, Director of Research at Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service and Mr. Kenneth Spearpoint, Principle Lecturer of Medical and Healthcare Simulation at University of Hertfordshire. Topics include “Integrating human factors into learning conversations – a contemporary model of debriefing”, “Adapting simulation fidelity to learning objectives in ECMO patient care”, and more! WiSER is the West Herts Initiative in Simulation Education and Research.
