Job Description

The Manager of Standardized Patient Education (SPE) manages, and promotes the use of simulated and virtual patient education activities for the Office of Medical Education (OME) at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med). The incumbent has primary responsibility for the recruitment, training, supervising, and evaluation of Standardized Patients (SPs). The incumbent also has the responsibility for scheduling, staffing, monitoring and supporting clinical education experiences for the OME.

This role provides a great opportunity to impact the education and interpersonal skills of the next generation of clinical providers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional skills in relationship building, collaboration, and people management. This role requires the ability to prioritize multiple tasks on specific timelines, a high degree of organizational skill and detail orientation. Alignment with UNR Med's vision, mission and values is a must.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three years if related professional work experience OR

Master's Degree and two years of related professional work experience

Related Experience: Working in a medical teaching and/or educational assessment environment in a leadership role; managing a budget; principles of recruitment; work requiring the use of medical terminology; basic non-invasive and invasive exam equipment and physical examination maneuvers; experience in the allied health professions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting a range of individuals, including diversity in age, race, and gender
  • Experience in a clinical setting

Total Compensation

The total compensation package includes a competitive salary, moving allowance (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, thirty (30) days of sick leave provided upon start date and two (2) days of sick leave accrued per full month after the first year of service, two (2) days of annual leave accrued each full month, along with many other benefits.
