Gurnick Nursing Simulation Center Grand Opening | May 25, 2021

In development since 2019, the Gurnick Nursing Simulation Center is approaching its grand opening, celebrated in partnership with Education Management Solutions and Gaumard Scientific. The grand opening event is set to take place on Tuesday, May 25 at 2 p.m. EST. This virtual presentation will help highlight the use of EMS clinical simulation solutions throughout the simulation center to enhance the education of clinical learners. In addition, the event will showcase how SIMULATIONiQ can be implemented across multicampus institutions.

Hosted by EMS, Gurnick Academy and Guamard, the virtual Gurnick Nursing Simulation Center grand opening will feature a high-level overview of the programs planned to be used in the lab, as well as the new space as a whole. Then, the hosts will exhibit the new simulation lab and explain how the space was designed, how the lab came to fruition, and what the goals and objectives are for the simulation lab. Leaders will further detail how they plan to improve learners’ experiences and provide them with the best possible education. The event agenda is as follows:

11:00 a.m. — Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony with Fresno City of Commerce
11:05 a.m. — Gurnick Academy Leadership Speech
11:10 a.m. — Fresno Campus Virtual Tour
11:15 a.m. — Simulation Center Virtual Tour

“The Gurnick Academy is very motivated to give their learners the best possible education and the best possible experience using the latest and greatest technologies out in the industry,” said Bob Gillespie, a regional sales manager at EMS. “We have had nothing but positive experiences working with the Gurnick team and partnering with Guamard on this opportunity.”

EMS’ partnership with the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts began when they were introduced by a healthcare simulation company, Gaumard. At the time, the Gurnick Academy had implemented the use of Gaumard simulation mannequins, but were looking to find new ways to increase audio visual capabilities and management software. EMS was extremely interested in helping to fill this void, and implement this in Gurnick’s multicampus setup.

“The neat thing about SIMULATIONiQ is the ability to connect all campuses to the cloud under one instance,” said Gillespie. “They can manage not only the learning that’s taking place at this specific lab, but also at the other campuses as well. Being able to connect to all the different campuses under one umbrella really piqued Gurnick Academy’s interest.”

The company’s goals are to help the new Gurnick lab make the utmost out of their new clinical simulation lab, and to help their learners get the very best experience possible. As is the case for all clients, EMS’ secondary goal for Gurnick Academy is to spread the use of SIMULATIONiQ across all other campuses as well.

“The other campuses are currently doing simulation, but they do not have our application yet,” Gillespie said. “This is the first Gurnick Academy campus to go live with SIMULATIONiQ. Eventually we’d like to deploy this at all their other campuses, and then they can connect it all to the same cloud instance. This way administrators can track the learning that’s taking place at their other campuses spread across Northern California as well.”
