Two Upcoming IVRHA Healthcare Technology Events

On a mission to facilitate and support the growth of the virtual reality healthcare industry, the International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association (IVRHA) is comprised of members throughout the healthcare ecosystem. This includes professionals at technology companies, who teach at hospitals and universities, as well as healthcare providers and insurance companies. Together, these members support the progression of virtual reality in medicine in a way that promotes increased use across the field. Through this support, IVRHA hosts several industry-related events throughout the year. In the coming weeks, this includes an Inaugural Virtual Reality and Healthcare Technology Transfer Conference and the 4th Annual Virtual Reality and Healthcare Europe Symposium.

First, the Inaugural Virtual Reality and Healthcare Technology Transfer Conference will take place on Thursday, September 29, and Friday, September 30 in Richmond, Virginia. IVRHA explains that researchers at universities nationwide are building virtual and extended reality (VR/XR) applications for use in healthcare — to better detect, diagnose, and treat medical conditions and improve quality of life. For this reason, the two-day conference, held at Virginia Commonwealth University, is designed for both inventors behind cutting-edge healthcare research, and the outside companies and partners with interests in the field.

On the organization’s website, IVRHA explains that, in consultation with the technology transfer office of VCU, a need was identified to expose and promote the research being performed within universities and startups alike that are looking to license or sell their intellectual property. Alternatively, commercial enterprises looking for a particular research or intellectual property to buy or license should also consider presenting this to the community. In many ways, IVRHA added that this conference is designed to be a buyers/seller’s market opportunity for cutting-edge research. Note: (The conference will follow local guidelines as stipulated by the City of Richmond, VA, and Virginia Commonwealth University as it relates to the management of COVID-19.)
