HealthySimulation.com, SSH Host Press Box at IMSH 2023

Each year, healthcare simulation leaders gather at IMSH 2023 to showcase their products and innovations, share insights, and network with other simulationists from across the world. To help highlight the work being done throughout the clinical simulation industry, HealthySimulation.com and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) have partnered to host a Press Box. Located toward the middle of the exhibit hall, this year’s Press Box interviews include those from several key medical simulation vendors. This HealthySimulation.com article includes video interviews and shares more information about the IMSH 2023 Press Box. Read even more Press Box interviews which were posted a few days later!

During each Press Box interview, HealthySimulation.com Founder and CEO asked each interviewee four questions. They include:

  • What is new from your company?
  • What industry trend do you foresee in 2023 that you would want to help to lead?
  • What remote and distance-based learning technologies are you showcasing at the event?
  • What do you believe the healthcare simulation industry needs to do collectively to move the field forward?

Press Box Interviews: Key Medical Simulation Vendors

Sentinel U: Sentinel U, formerly Healthcare Learning Innovations, is an e-learning company that works to meet the evolving needs of healthcare education and training by providing simulation-based technologies and virtual learning tools. Founded in 2013, Sentinel U helps advance nursing academic education and healthcare professional training through virtual clinicals that are engaging, effective, and economic. Aligning outcomes with AACN BSN Essentials, QSEN Competencies, and NCLEX categories, Sentinel U provides nursing learners and practicing nurses with online simulations that are convenient to safely practice healthcare and patient scenarios anywhere, at any time, while earning virtual clinical hours.

EMS’ healthcare simulation-based solutions for healthcare training environments range from clinical simulation management software and hardware to counselor education and virtual interactive computer-based training tools. Further, EMS’ comprehensive technology platform aggregates curriculum and learner performance data across online, didactic, clinical, and simulation-based training modules.

CAE Healthcare: CAE Healthcare, a division of Canadian-based CAE (NYSE: CAE), is among the world leaders in developing cutting-edge healthcare simulation learning tools for today’s professional healthcare providers. The company strives to deliver educational tools that best help healthcare professionals provide safe high-quality patient care. CAE Healthcare has an extraordinarily vast area of simulated products ranging from manikins, interventional and imaging systems, and AV recording debriefing / Learning Management Systems.

SimX: SimX, previously called SimXAR, is a healthcare software company specializing in medical simulation, virtual reality, augmented reality, and medical training and education. The company brings virtual and augmented reality into the realm of healthcare simulation and training. The company was founded by physicians in training at Stanford, the University of California at San Francisco, and University of California at Los Angeles. They understood that simulation practice and training are extremely beneficial to both learners and clinicians, and hoped to use virtual reality to make simulation cheaper and more accessible, to ultimately reduce medical error and increase patient safety.

Medical Shipment: Medical Shipment was founded in 2007 by Dan Micic, who was still attending Harper College when he first launched the company. What started over 10 years ago with a shipment of 90 cases of gloves to Medline has quickly become a multimillion-dollar annual business that has been named in the Inc 5000 list for 3 years in a row! Starting with a focus on Nursing, Medical Shipment now provides medical supplies, specialized instructional medical devices, and simulation-based products and services to healthcare educational institutions around the world.
