Scalability

Cloud-based learning management lets you customize your solution and lower cost from the get-go while ensuring you have room to grow. Enrolling more learners? Adding a department or program? Building a new campus? Engaging in interprofessional learning activities with multiple departments or institutions? Whether you’re running training events on a single campus or ten, cloud-based learning management makes it easy to connect all of your programs, people, and processes within a single, intuitive interface. You have the freedom to modify and scale your cloud-based learning management system (LMS) to meet your increasing single, multi-site, and distributed environment requirements.

Security

When it comes to cloud-based technology, users’ security and privacy is of the utmost importance. Cloud-based learning management powered by Microsoft’s Azure Framework keeps your data offsite, secure, and up-to-date with regular backups. With a cloud-based LMS, all servers are hosted off-site, minimizing the requirement for day-to-day IT support and maintenance. It also provides automatic software and security updates. This leaves you free to focus on educating learners and running clinical simulation activities in your center.

Standardization

Cloud-based simulation management technology makes it possible to create an end-to-end, 360° view of your learners’ and program’s performance, and map curricula across the multiple sites or campuses. This helps faculty and administrators identify problem areas—and drives program standardizations that weren’t previously in place. This visibility can lead to specific process improvements and overall program optimization.

Analytics

Because cloud-based simulation management technology connects all your program’s data within a single interface, it’s easy to collect and compare metrics from a variety of sources. Track learner and program performance across key competencies; examine your data to ensure your training and assessment model is effective; and aggregate big data from your assessment systems with cloud technology.

ROI

Want your center to the achieve the highest return on investment (ROI)? Consider how a cloud-based LMS can reduce your total cost of ownership and keep your capital and operational expenses to a minimum with a smaller IT footprint. Because there is no server hardware to install, cloud-based learning management lowers your initial costs. And with quick installation and set-up, you won’t need to devote internal IT resources to installing programs, working out glitches, or confirming center-wide deployment. With cloud-based technology, you can be confident for the long-term and know your data is secure.

Accessibility

Whether you’re on site at your simulation center, in your office, at home, or traveling, cloud-based learning management allows you to get the data you need, when you need it. Use permission-based access to create or modify cases, schedule, view videos, score, and report—anytime, anywhere.

Case Study: Five-Campus University System Connects Curriculum with Cloud-Based Simulation Management Tech

Since 2018, one of the leading health sciences universities in the U.S. has established five campuses to educate graduate and post-graduate level learners for nursing and health administration, among other allied health sciences. Each campus’ simulation center shares a standardized footprint of inpatient, outpatient, and hospital-based simulation rooms that are equipped with state-of-the-art audio-video recording technology. But administrators were challenged to centralize their simulation curriculum between campuses in the face of varying workflows and time zones.

All five campuses needed to be fully connected. The simulation coordinator and her team looked for a management solution that would help them connect the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of their training programs, on all campuses and across multiple states.

“In order to improve the standard and quality of our curriculum, we had to make sure the data went across locations,” says the university-wide simulation coordinator. “Each campus uses the same curriculum and scenarios. With that, we wanted our AV recordings to be seen across locations so that faculty at one campus can watch a video to see how something may have been done on another campus, and confirm the same objectives are being met.”

A cloud-based distributed architecture was the answer. Read their recent case study  “Five Campus University System Connects Curriculum with Cloud-Based Simulation Management Tech”  to see how the university system leveraged cloud technology to centrally manage their multi-campus simulation program.
