Prague’s SESAM 2024 To Move EU Clinical Simulation Community Forward

The Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM) is a healthcare simulation organization designed to encourage and support the use of simulation in healthcare for the purpose of training and research. SESAM holds an annual conference in June. This year SESAM 2024 will occur in Prague June 19-21, 2024. SESAM Prague 2024: Supporting Excellence in Healthcare

One of the oldest healthcare simulation societies, SESAM 2024 will be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Society and the 29th year of the conference. The theme “Supporting Excellence in Healthcare” will take place at the O2 Universum in the beautiful city of Prague. A record-breaking number of abstracts were submitted this year that leads to a rich, varied scientific programme, as well as the chance to bring the clinical simulation community together. Highlights of the SESAM Annual Meeting

SESAM has a world-class conference developed for all involved in healthcare simulation from novice to expert and operations to surgical simulation. • Sharon Weldon: Professor of Healthcare Simulation and Workforce Development, and her non-conforming application of simulation as a method has helped generate new systems of care, identified how care is perceived, and tested new interventions, all whilst engaging stakeholders not usually involved in such processes

• SIM University: SimUniversity will take place during the SESAM annual meeting and thus also create an opportunity for students to be exposed to simulation content from international experts.
• SiReN: Simulation Research Network (SiReN) is a grass-roots, collaborative group of simulation researchers working at all levels—from early career researchers to experienced research colleagues.
• SESAM Mentoring Programme: The SESAM Mentoring Programme is a working alliance in which individuals work together over time, on a one-to-one basis, to support the personal and professional growth, development, and success of the relational partners through the provision of career and psychosocial support.

Teresa Gore, PhD, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CHSE-A, FSSH, FAAN – Dr. Gore has experience in educating future nurses in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Dr. Gore has a PhD in Adult Education, a DNP as a family nurse practitioner, and a certificate in Simulation Education. Dr. Gore is an innovative, compassionate educator and an expert in the field of healthcare simulation. In 2007l Teresa started her journey in healthcare simulation. She is involved in INACSL and SSH. She is a Past-President of INACSL and is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Advanced (CHSE-A). In 2018, she was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). In 2021, she was inducted as a Fellow in the Society of Simulation in Healthcare Academy (FSSH) and selected as a Visionary Leader University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Alumni. During her career, Dr. Gore has led in the development and integration of simulation into all undergraduate clinical courses and started an OSCE program for APRN students. Her research interests and scholarly work focus on simulation, online course development and faculty development. She has numerous invited presentations nationally and internationally on simulation topics.
