The New CAE Ares is Much More Than an ALS Manikin
Patient simulation has proven itself to be an effective modality for training in both routine and emergency patient care. And while a growing number of paramedic programs, worldwide, incorporate simulation-based education for assessment, problem-solving and critical thinking, there is an expressed need for simulation to be used in a broader capacity. To answer this need, CAE Healthcare, a leader in cutting-edge solutions that facilitate clinical training through risk-free simulation-based learning, has released CAE Ares. Ares is a mid-fidelity patient manikin that is specifically designed to meet and exceed the increased demand for emergency care management and the advanced life support (ALS) training requirements of emergency care providers.
We had a chance to check out Ares at INACSL and were especially impressed by the SymEyes and the ability for the manikin to come in darker skin tones. The product was featured alongside the new LearningSpace product lines, which now come in three simple to understand formats. More on this shortly!
Fully compliant with the most recent American Heart Association (AHA) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) training guidelines, CAE Ares is a full body patient manikin that offers a comprehensive range of standard and optional features for quality emergency training, such as:
- CPR metrics/cardiac assessment
- advanced airway training
- cardioversion, pacing, and defibrillation
- needle decompression and intramuscular injection
- intraosseous and intravenous access as well as SymEyes, which simulate medical states and conditions
This emergency care patient manikin additionally converts from male to female with ease. The CAE Ares software includes six Simulated Clinical Experiences (SCEs) that address four of the most common EMS alerts, namely, trauma, sepsis, cardiac and stroke.
The timing for CAE Ares to come to market could not be more perfect. In January 2018, CAE Healthcare delivered the initial American Heart Association-accredited Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) courses to clinical professionals in Brunei at the CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre. In a statement, Dr. Robert Amyot, president of CAE Healthcare, said:
“Healthcare organizations around the world recognize the critical role that life support and quality emergency care play in preventing death and disability, and they constantly strive to improve and standardize their training. As a global training partner for healthcare, we are working with key organizations to deliver innovation to this field with a simulation manikin that reflects contemporary educational practices and is reliable, versatile and robust.”
CAE Ares’s first appearances on three continents began in June 2018 (at the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) conference in Toronto, Canada; at the HPSN UK conference in Nottingham, United Kingdom; at the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM) conference in Bilbao, Spain and at the EMS Asia conference in Davao, Philippines). Other places to check out Ares include SimGHOSTS USA, and CAE Healthcare’s HPSN South Bend Regional SimDay in Mishawaka, Indiana August 2nd at Bethel College!
The CAE Ares emergency care manikin is uniquely configured to reliably support objectives in ALS/ACLS and EMS training, allowing learners to achieve mastery in a range of emergency patient scenarios and urgent care procedures.
Ares is available now through CAE Healthcare and its distributors. To learn more, visit the CAE Healthcare website through the link below today!
