Abstract:
Yes, with simulation-based training, you are five days away from surgical competency and improved surgical outcomes. Let the folks from the non-profit organization HelpMeSee show you how! The presenter’s will explore outcomes and experiences stemming from HelpMeSee’s simulation-based training and a surgeon will share his view of the impact this training can have on surgeons who are re-entering surgical practice post hiatus, due to the pandemic or other factors. This webinar will showcase a simulation-based training tool that allows trainees to make mistakes and learn from them, while moving through a full cycle of practice to proficiency, instilling confidence. The product demonstration will show the learning curve involved, and how a trainee progressed to surgical competency, through observation of a trained surgeon who demonstrates skills. Using data and knowledge from the instructor, this webinar will showcase how two trainees at one time can rotate, observe, practice and adjust along their journey to surgical competency.
This webinar will also showcase the important work that the HelpMeSee non-profit organization is doing to provide cataract surgical simulators and surgical training in developing countries around the world. HelpMeSee’s mission is to restore vision to people living with severe visual impairment and blindness due to Cataract worldwide, which affects over 100 million people globally. The non-profit understands that the only way to address avoidable blindness is to change the paradigm of eye surgery education through training delivery, and are creating simulation tools and services to just that!
Learning Objectives:
