Abstract:
Every minute counts when someone is bleeding out. That’s why more emergency medical teams are bringing blood transfusions directly to accident scenes and ambulances. Medical Simulation educators play a crucial role in preparing medical teams for this challenging but vital intervention.
This webinar provides the tools and techniques needed to create high-fidelity training scenarios for prehospital blood transfusion. Participants will learn how to design realistic simulations that test both technical skills and clinical decision-making, incorporate the latest simulation technology effectively, and develop assessment methods to ensure competency. The session will explore common pitfalls in transfusion training and share best practices for creating scenarios that truly prepare providers for field conditions.
Whether developing programs for EMTs, paramedics, or medical professionals, practical strategies will be offered to enhance simulation curricula. Live Q&A sessions throughout will allow collaboration with fellow simulation experts and address specific challenges in teaching this new and complex procedure.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the critical components of prehospital blood transfusion protocols.
- Identify key safety considerations in clinical transfusion simulation design.
- Describe best practices for integrating technology into transfusion scenarios.
