Abstract:
Pediatric Simulation is a powerful tool for physician and nursing education in pediatrics, which allows teams to come together in a safe but realistic environment and learn about how we collaborate as providers, how to function during emergencies and how to communicate with the pediatric patients and their families. However, as healthcare providers, we often find ourselves working in silos when doing this work and thus duplicating efforts and lacking awareness of other quality simulation work with similar aims and stakeholders. Members of the Pediatrics Section and Patient Safety and Simulation Collaborative Affinity Group of SSH have attempted to address this issue by identifying possible causes and working towards improved collaboration between their groups and other pediatric-focused simulation experts inside and outside of SSH. In this CE webinar a description of this effort will be explored along with a list the current progress, and detail of plans for the future.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the current issues with performing pediatric simulation in silos.
- Describe an initial approach to collaboration in simulated pediatric care education and training.
- Detail plans for future efforts at bringing additional clinical groups together to improve collaboration.
