Abstract:
Design for a Common Language (DCL) is a transformative initiative aimed at preparing Japanese medical students to thrive in global healthcare settings. This 1-hour webinar will describe an intensive 6-day training course that has been successfully conducted in New York City through Pace University for over a decade. DCL focuses on enhancing English language proficiency and communication skills specific to U.S. healthcare environments through a combination of didactic instruction, experiential learning, formative assessment, and structured feedback. What you will learn is the program structure for the core components of Foundational English Proficiency and preparation for the SP program on how to teach SPs to assess communication and English proficiency. This webinar session is designed for SP educators, healthcare trainers, language instructors, and professionals seeking to bridge the gap between clinical practice and language skills.
