Abstract:
Harvard defines the concept of Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset in this way: Someone with a growth mindset views intelligence, abilities, and talents as learnable and capable of improvement through effort. On the other hand, someone with a fixed mindset views those same traits as inherently stable and unchangeable over time. In essence, a fixed mindset is “can’t” based, where growth mindset is “can” based. In this CE webinar presentation by HealthySimulation.com’s Content Manager and INACSL Past-President Dr. Teresa Gore, we will learn how Healthcare simulation is the perfect pedagogy to promote a Growth mindset in all phases of experiential learning opportunities. This CE presentation webinar will explore strategies for promoting a growth mindset in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a clinical simulation experience and help healthcare programs improve clinical education, training and patient outcomes by empowering learners with a “can do” growth mindset.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the difference between fixed and growth mindset.
- Identify at least three ways to promote a growth mindset in the development of the clinical simulation scenario.
- State at least one strategy for each phase of healthcare simulation: needs assessment, design, pre-brief, scenario, debrief, and evaluation.
