Job Summary
The Simulation and Clinical Lab Specialist II (SIM II) will report to the Laboratory Manager, Center for Interprofessional Clinical Simulation and Practice (CICSP). The primary role is the implementation and delivery of simulation activities through the application of simulation technologies such as computers, mannequins, task trainers, standardized patients, audio-visual, and networking technologies. CICSP supports online virtual simulation and in person learning in the Standardized Patient Laboratory, Human Patient Simulation and Skills Laboratory. Additionally, the Sim II demonstrates expertise across all modalities and serves as a leader in managing simulation events, mentors Simulation Lab Specialist I (Sim I) in professional development and contributes to CICSP strategic growth.

Essential Functions
Reviews, updates, and creates policies and procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager.
Mentors Sim I staff to advance skills in all four simulation areas.
Models’ communication strategies and philosophy of CICSP.
Identifies opportunities for department growth and strategic direction.
Anticipates scheduling, technical and supply issues and collaborates with team members and CICSP leadership.
Leads and delegates appropriately to Sim I in the planning of summative and formative events in all four simulation areas.
Collaborates with faculty, attends planning meetings, and is the primary contact on the day of events with trouble shooting and problem solving.
Demonstrates expert skills in the operation and use of the simulation and clinical lab equipment and technology (including mid and high-fidelity mannequins, complex task trainers, and ancillary equipment such as defibrillators and IV pumps) after training is completed.
Monitors the daily operations of the center and ensures communication to CICSP leadership as needed.
Interface with Drexel CNHP IT and outside vendors for supplies, support, and software issues.
Coordinate's scheduling and maintenance of simulation equipment with outside vendors.
Support of in person learning includes lifting 25 pounds without assistance and over 75 pounds with assistance.
Act as the on-site department representative by supporting faculty, staff, and students with equipment troubleshooting and providing additional supplies as needed.
Oversees and designs inventory control; assessing and ordering needed supplies and collaborating with faculty when needed to explore alternatives.
Assist with CICSP help desk and reception area.
Acts as an embedded standardized participant in simulation after training provided.
Participate in special projects and events as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
A minimum of 2 years’ experience
Other requirements: Experience with clinical skills labs, simulation labs, or health care environments. The Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist® (CHSOS®) preferred or eligible within 2 years of hire.
 

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance and over 75 pounds with assistance.
Computer literacy in MS software required.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including proper use of communication tools and technologies, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to interact with a broad range of individuals at various levels within an organization.
Strong problem-solving and team-building skills.
High degree of integrity and professionalism.
Ability to handle multiple projects successfully.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve basic and advanced simulation issues.
Knowledge of simulation services and applications is required; advanced training in simulation technology will be provided.
Knowledge of business planning, modeling, concepts, and tools helpful.
Knowledge of simulation mannequins and use of simulation software such as simulation preferred.
