Description

The Executive Director provides oversight and direction for the Belmont Simulation Center providing leadership to a high-performing team of individuals dedicated to providing state of the art interprofessional simulation-based learning for learners from multiple professions.

This position reports directly to the Vice Provost for Research and Strategic Initiatives and works with various stakeholders across the university and community, leading and supporting strategic initiatives focused on simulation and educational innovation related to simulation.

  • Proven and demonstrable track record of implementing interprofessional simulation-based programs.

  • Demonstrated success in strategic and sustainability planning.
  • Knowledge of SSH Accreditation criteria and demonstrated history of successful SSH Accreditation.
  • Recognized nationally as a leader in the field of simulation.
  • Extensive knowledge of simulation pedagogy, program operations, standards of best practice and instructional techniques/technologies.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the team in alignment with the educational and business strategy of the University.
  • Define and direct the strategic vision and mission to guide teaching and research.
  • Lead in the maintenance of accreditation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
  • Support interprofessional education across the university’s health care programs.
  • Provide participation and recommendations for hiring, training, counseling, settling grievances, salaries, disciplinary actions, probation, promotion, position upgrades and discharge.
  • Provide final authority for setting performance goals, planning work assignments and performance evaluations.
  • Provide annual reports of operational expenses in collaboration with the Vice Provost.
  • Evaluate utilization plan and forecast future resources required to attain strategic goals.
  • Work with external collaborators, including Heath care systems, such as HCA, Ascension, and Vanderbilt, among others, health care partners, multiple disciplines, and equipment and service vendors.
  • Promotion of the Simulation Center to external constituents to strengthen community relations and develop opportunities for alternate funding sources.
  • Maintain and promote a culture of high standards of ethics and integrity among the simulation team.
   
Required Education • A terminal degree in a clinical, educational, or scientific field preferred. A masters prepared candidate may be considered with substantial experience. • Certification from the Society of Simulation for Healthcare as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE); CHSE-A preferred.
Required Experience • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in clinical education using simulation-based education. • Requires a minimum of 3 years of leadership in a clinical simulation environment working within an academic institution or healthcare institution working with clinical disciplines (nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and/or other health related fields, etc.).
