Director of Medical Simulation & Innovative Education

Located in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the Director of Medical Simulation & Innovative Education. The candidate should be board certified and eligible for appointment to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine faculty. The Director of Medical Simulation and Innovative Education is accountable for interprofessional education to improve quality of care throughout Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

The Director will lead the Center for Medical Simulation and Innovative Education, which is comprised of the Simulation Center and Clinical Education Department. The leadership of the Center consists of the Medical Director, Associate Medical Director of the Simulation Center and the Director of Professional Practice and Clinical Education.

The Director is accountable for:

-Developing an integrative educational mission incorporating the needs of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s community, clinical, support services and patient/caregiver.

-Engaging the Johns Hopkins All Children’s community in developing and executing evidence-based, best practice medical simulation and clinical education.

-Promoting excellence in educational innovation and transformation throughout the system.

-Fostering a culture of learning, including competency-based education, interprofessional/team-based education, and experiential learning.

-Pioneering novel initiatives in education to innovate and support transformative education, including development of research and new teaching methodologies.

-Partnering with Institute/Department Medical Directors and the Office of Medical Education to impact interprofessional teamwork and strive for continuous learning environment.

-Aligning education strategy to further improve quality and safety initiatives across campus.

-Captivating the philanthropic community, fundraising and advocating for legislative needs.

-Clinical time in specialty.

 

The Director of Medical Education and Innovative Simulation must be a board-certified physician with a record of academic scholarship and experience in a simulation center. This individual must be eligible for a faculty appointment with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
