PRAXIS CENTER will be the nation’s first simulation training center dedicated specifically to the needs of our nation’s rural healthcare practitioners. This new $36 Million, 40,000 ft2 simulation training center will train an estimated 5,000 healthcare workers annually. The Praxis Center will utilize medical mannequins, imaging simulators, surgical simulators, cadavers, and Standardized Patients (SP) / patient actors. The Praxis Center is currently in the final stages of financing with architectural design by mid-2022, construction beginning in early 2023, and operations beginning by late 2024. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Chief Clinical Simulation Officer (CCSO).
The CCSO will report directly to the CEO of the Praxis Center and will be part of a five-member senior leadership team. The CCSO will supervise the clinical training team at the Praxis Center and will be a liaison to Praxis Center clinical and simulation vendor partners. The CCSO will be part of a team that develops the Praxis Center from ground up. Significant opportunities exist for personal and professional growth as the Praxis Center organization grows over time. The CCSO must be a critical thinker, be high energy with the ability to take on many disparate tasks, and be willing to lead a team from start-up into operations.
• SIMULATION CENTER DESIGN:
Under the direction of the CEO, and in cooperation with other senior leadership team members, the CCSO will:
o assist in the overall planning and design of the Praxis Center.
o lead a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) designed to identify all aspects of training, space, and equipment requirements, etc. for the Praxis Center
o work with the Center’s architects on the design of all simulation training areas located in the facility
o support the identification of required simulation equipment, software, A/V equipment and technologies
• SIMULATION CENTER MANAGEMENT: The CCSO will:
o assist in overall planning and development of the simulation training programs at the Praxis Center
o be responsible for day-to-day management of all simulation training activities
o lead a team of 20+ full-time clinical training members as well as 25+ part-time SPs/patient actors and be responsible for staff management and development
o work with vendor partners (simulation equipment, telemedicine, A/V, etc.) who will support the Center
o lead curriculum development activities including working with Praxis vendor partner(s) and members of the leadership team to further develop the rural health training curriculum
o oversee all aspects of accreditation with SSH and any other accrediting bodies
o be responsible for developing compliance and operating policies and procedures for simulation training operations
o work with the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for annual development and oversight of the budget for clinical simulation operations
o be responsible for day-to-day operations of all simulation training services once the facility is operational
o integrate with the Chief Operating Officer on all other aspects of overall facility management (information technology, scheduling, facilities, etc.)
o lead and support the acquisition of all simulation training equipment and technologies utilized in the Center
o be responsible for implementing and utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) for training operations
o integrate with the Chief Marketing Officer and the marketing and sales team to support business development activities
o will develop and lead an Advisory Committee for Praxis Center training services
o serve as a liaison from Praxis to its constituencies to promote the visibility, reputation, and interests of Praxis
o will participate in public relation events, publications, and other network activities
o lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation education programs to meet simulation-related development goals of the Center
o perform annual performance evaluations for faculty and staff
o support the planning, development, and implementation of new services, technologies, and training locations
To qualify you must have:
• At least fifteen (15) years' related experience with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role managing a simulation training center.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and customizing clinical, educational or simulation programs.
• Experience with manikin-based, imaging-based, and surgical simulation technologies as well as OSCEs.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in health professions education, with specific experience in clinical education.
• Excellent leadership, communication, technology, and team building skills including the ability to interact and collaborate effectively with learners and the healthcare community, and all levels of organizational personnel at Praxis Center.
• Advanced degree in healthcare or an earned doctorate in a related field. Direct clinical experience is preferred.
• Certified Health Simulation Educator (CHSE)
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)
