Assistant Director -AZ- Clinical Skills and Simulation Center
The Assistant Director is responsible for day to day operations and oversight of the department. They are to handle planning, coordinating, and managing of projects on an ongoing basis as well as assist with the day to day tasks of their direct reports. The Assistant Director is also a consultant to the Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation and will assist with the planning and project coordination of future goals of the department. This individual may be eligible for a faculty appointment based on qualifications. If a faculty appointment is deemed appropriate, teaching and/or service related activities for said College or Program would be expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with AZ campus colleges and programs to provide uniform simulation and standardized patient experiences as necessitated by their curriculums.
- Oversee and coordinate the scheduling and usage of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center to ensure that the needs of each are being fairly met
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the department in absence of Director
- Provide the leadership required to ensure that simulation programs meet standards of quality assurance for breadth and depth of education, and user expectations.
- Assist in data collection, data analysis, and grant writing for the purpose of simulation-based research or Center accreditation.
- Develop working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff and students within the institution as well as with other simulation centers and educational organizations.
- Teach clinical skills and critical thinking using simulation technology.
- Teaching and/or Service related activities for College or Program for which you hold faculty appointment.
This job directly supervises 3 positions.

Education and/or Experience
Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution required. Ideally, this individual will have a clinical background in health care such as Physician, Physician Assistant, Advanced Practice Nurse, Pharmacist, etc., and have at least three years of clinical experience. Additional experience in developing and/or implementing simulation and standardized patient experiences for healthcare/academia, and/or integrating simulation and standardized patient experiences across the healthcare delivery system highly desirable. Administrative experience and work with technology also highly desirable.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
High skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and boards of directors.
High skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Intermediate skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions and proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to use technology in making mathematical calculations or processing statistics.
