HealthySimulation.com Founder/CEO Lance Baily shared on the morning of the launch that “We are thrilled to unveil the new version of the website – which we are confident will revolutionize the medical simulation industry once again! Every single element of the website content, infrastructure, style, and integrations has been reviewed, recategorized, redesigned and redeveloped – literally everything down to the color of our logo has been upgraded! Special thanks to all the HealthySimulation.com staff and team members from around the world, and all our family members who have supported this complex and challenging process, all of whome who helped us get here over the many many hours, weeks, months and years this project has taken to build and launch!”

Redesign Process Two Years in the Making

First, important to note is that HealthySimulation.com started the redevelopment process with multiple comprehensive surveys and focus group meetings to the global healthcare simulation community to better understand reader objectives, as well as what they did or did not like about the previous website. Every response had a dramatic impact on the redevelopment process, from selecting colors to key navigational needs, revealing the most crucial aspects for the redesign and redevelopment teams to focus upon.

78% of Readers Surveyed Requested Personalized Content.

As such, the entire redevelopment process was built with our core audience at the very center of each and every choice made. Our leadership team thanks the hundreds of hundreds of individuals who provided crucial feedback to help improve the website experience.

New Visual Style Meet New Engagement Technologies

Instantly upon visiting the new website, clinical simulation champions will experience a brand new layout meticulously crafted to promote more effective interaction. New colors, navigation menus, homepage updates and content page designs have been carefully reviewed and improved upon, providing readers with an easier way to find content most relevant to their specific and immediate needs. Undergoing a multi-phase redesign process with visual experts, HealthySimulation.com realigned every aspect of the website around three core brand principles to be: effective, useful, and excellent.

Following this exercise, HealthySimulation.com reviewed potential design options to select the overall style and refined elements of the website visuals:

Much more than just a stylistic improvement though, the entire user experience has been designed from the ground up to provide medical simulation readers with faster access to the most crucial content, by showcasing article and webinar resources directly related to the article in view. In this way, once the reader has found relevant content to their needs based on clinical discipline, simulator technology type, or simulation process, other content resources similar to those categories will be more immediately available.

Additionally, the website has launched three new summary pages covering the latest industry news, degree program listings, and books.

Important to note is that every single article and webinar ever produced on HealthySimulation.com, as far back as April of 2010, has been meticulously reviewed for contemporary relevance, as well as completely recategorized and retagged under a completely new taxonomy system. Simulation professionals from around the world supported this laborious and time intensive process to ensure that all key content was reviewed through a 50-step questionnaire to review key indexable traits such as:

  • Primary Clinical Discipline (ie Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health)
  • Clinical Specialty Discipline (ie Pediatrics, Emergency Department, Sonography)
  • Non-Clinical Discipline (ie Administration, Operations, Marketing
  • Simulation Role (ie Technician, Administration, Educator, Researcher)
  • Expertise Level (ie Beginner, Expert)
  • Learner Typer (Students – Undergraduate, Students – Graduate, Professional – Clinician)
  • Simulation Phase (and subsequent relevant fields such as those exampled under Ops)
    • Needs Assessment
    • Modality
    • Scenario Design
    • Pre-briefing
    • Operations
      • Administration
        • Advocacy
        • Business Development
        • Consultation
        • Faculty Participation
        • Finances
        • Funding
        • Governance
        • Interprofessional Participation
        • Marketing
        • Media Relations
        • Etc.
      • Credentialing

      • Infrastructure Design
      • Procedures
      • Personnel
    • Facilitation

Readers can now view the new Index page to review all possible taxonomies to new levels never possible before, including over one hundred different taxonomy choices. Further filtering of these taxonomies will be coming soon.

New User Accounts Provide Better Integration and Personalized Content

With the new website also comes the launch of the first full website user account system, further improving the usability and effectiveness of HealthySimulation.com in supporting nursing simulation and other clinical simulation champions from around the world! While previous only the subdomain learn.healthysimulation.com had a user account system for webinar/course activities, now the entire website is under a SSO (Single Sign On) option, which users can sign into through Google and Twitter now, and Facebook shortly as well.

By providing a few professional fields during the registration (or re-register process for previous LEARN platform users) details such as primary clinical discipline, simulation role, simulation expertise, and learner types, readers who create a free account will be able to see all the most recent content most relevant to their specific domains.

Example of Personalized Content sections available to those who register a free account.

Not only this, but with the new account system the HealthySimulation.com team has migrated over 400 CE/CME webinars and courses from an offline 3rd party system and brought all of that learning material directly into the main website architecture. This means that finding webinar content relevant to a reader’s journey will be much faster and easier, and the previous disconnect between the main article website and previous subdomain Learning Management System (LMS) has been completely abolished.

Related webinars will be shown for all content articles.

Recorded Webinars and Course Content Gets Artificial Intelligence (AI) Upgrade

Immediately available for every HealthySimulation.com eLearning account holder is the ability to watch 400+ CE/CME webinars and course content with AI transcripts and instant search indexing. Now, healthcare simulation champions can watch a recorded webinar such as “How to Encourage Administrators to Hire a Sim Tech” and search for “Operations” and instantly see the areas within the 1 hour video where that term appears in the text! Try it below:

Transcript

AI Video Player Tools:
Full Screen Play: Clicking play button will initiate full view mode, press either close buttons to exit.
Play Transcription Moment: In the “Transcript” column, click on the any text to immediately move the video to that moment.
Search Timeline: Use the AI “Search” field in the upper right hand corner of the video to instantly display all related results as horizontal lines on the timeline.
Video Hexagon Options: Increase the speed of the video, add AI generated closed captions, or downgrade the HD video playback quality.

HealthySimulation.com is excited by the prospect of empowering healthcare simulation professionals, who have very busy schedules, to find the content most meaningful to them throughout our hundreds and hundreds of recorded video content.

Furthering this improvement to search-ability, the entire website has been reindexed for improved search functionality both online through google, but also for the first time ever through the search bar visible on every page of the website. Between the index page and the new search tools across article and video content, simulated healthcare training champions should be able to find and utilize the most impactful and meaningful content at speeds never possible before.

Best for Last? Article Content Now Available in Every Major Language

While there are several more features available now and launching soon on HealthySimulation.com, the final innovation this introductory article will cover is the ability for the vast majority of healthcare simulation champions around the world to instantly convert any article content into their native language.

Founder/CEO Lance Baily remarked that “Having grown up as a first generation American from parents of two different countries, providing resources to healthcare professionals around the world has always been a personal mission of mine, which is evident in the work of the non-profit organization SimGHOSTS. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the volunteer Board Members and supportive staff, the NPO has hosted dozens of events supporting simulation technology operations specialists around the world. I’ve always said that a Sim Tech in Mumbai, India and a Sim Tech in Los Angeles, California are doing the same job — so let’s find more ways to bring this international community together. Today, it is my absolute honor to announce that HealthySimulation.com is instantly available to clinical professionals in every major language in the world! Simply select your flag in the upper left hand corner of the website for real-time translation.”

Just some of the many available languages are demonstrated below:
