Several Simulation Programs Gifted New Centers and Manikins, and One Still in Need!
Giving must be in the air as multiple simulation programs have been gifted the products and spaces they need to better train healthcare professionals through simulation! Check out these recent stories of new programs and expanded center capabilities, and one where there is still a big need.
- UCA Host Grand Opening for Nabholz Center: “Today marks a significant step toward our goal of providing the latest technology and equipment for our health care faculty and students. Because of the generous gift from the Nabholz companies and foundation we have opened and equipped the Nabholz Center for Healthcare Simulation,” said UCA President Tom Courtway.
- Summit Receives New Grant for New Simulators: Nursing staff at Villa St. Vincent/The SUMMIT now have the ability to gain valuable on-site training after receiving a life-like geriatric medical training mannequin. Grant funds from Benedictine Health System, Duluth, Minn., provided staff development nurses from 30 BHS communities, including Villa St. Vincent, with mannequins and intensive training on how to utilize this new resource.
- Sadly, still in Need is the BCIT Program who Are Hoping to Raise Funds for Lucina: “The BCIT Simulation Lab for Specialty Nursing is in critical need of this equipment,” states a foundation funding proposal, “as today’s practice of dressing a male mannequin as a pregnant woman makes it challenging for students to believe that they are caring for a woman giving birth.”
