Laerdal Medical and SonoSim Announce Strategic Partnership to Help Save More Lives
Ultrasound training solutions provider SonoSim, which is already partnered with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, recently announced another ground breaking partnership with Laerdal Medical regarding distribution, product development, and R&D collaboration. This is a great opportunity to add additional capabilities to each company’s product lines by creating collaborative approaches to training ultrasound techniques through medical simulation manikins like the SimMan 3G.
What I find most fascinating about the SonoSim is its low hardware profile. With just a USB dongle and a laptop clinical educators and learners can start to train ultrasound procedures on live standardized patients, manikins or in mid-air. As well, SonoSim provides access to patients, on-demand as they have “the world’s largest library” of actual patient cases with a broad spectrum of normal and real pathologic conditions. The allows learners to receive immediate probe-positioning guidance and expert feedback while scanning real-patient cases. Cathy Ruff RVT of GE Healthcare suggests that “The SonoSim Ultrasound Training solution is one of the more comprehensive and easy-to-use ultrasound training solutions available. In my over 25 years of experience with ultrasound and my exposure to multiple, different training courses, programs, and teachers, it is one of the best ones I have personally been exposed to.”
Currently the Livescan Pads (the blue stickers seen in the photo above) can be utilized with any manikin product to enable ultrasound training during your high-fidelity simulations. What a great idea!
