Sportstec Presentation: Improving Surgical Team Performance By Studying Sports Teams
Surgeon Dr. Teodor Grantcharov of St Michaels Hospital Toronto spoke at the Global Sportstec Innovation Conference (GSIC) sharing how he looked to Sports for innovative ways to improve his surgical teams performance and to ultimately save lives. Sportstec is the parent company of Studiocode, who have a strong performance analysis system for medical simulation users and other corporate sectors.

Dr. Grantcharov is a staff surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He has become internationally recognized as a leader in analyzing the evaluation and training of laparoscopic surgical skills via video and simulation analysis. He frequently draws parallels in his work to that of a performance analyst in the sports industry. In this presentation he highlights how he identifies performance gaps and errors in ultimately improving performance and outcomes.
