MODSIM: Labor and Delivery Training in a Virtual Environment
This video features the very first students to graduate from ODU’s Bachelor of Science in Modeling and Simulation Engineering as they presented their vision of a virtual environment for use in labor and delivery training. The project was presented to a panel of ODU engineering faculty and medical faculty from Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Sentara Center for Simulation and Immersive Learning. The goal of the project was to fuse together various simulators (i.e., phantom training simulators, virtual environment simulators, and medical device simulators) into one environment. The finished environment would then provide medical instructors with a simulation they can control and utilize to assess student performance.
