SimGHOSTS, aka The Gathering Of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists, is an international US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and institutions operating medical simulation technology and spaces through: hands-on training events, online resources, and professional development. SimGHOSTS envisions a healthcare education culture where people are empowered to use simulation technology to improve learning and patient care outcomes.
About USA Event Host – UTHSC CHIPS
The Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation (CHIPS) is a world-class, 45,000-square-foot, standalone simulation facility located at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis. CHIPS is dedicated to improving healthcare training and positively affecting patient safety. Students from the six colleges at UTHSC – Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy – participate in activities at CHIPS. CHIPS is also a resource to UTHSC residency programs and UTHSC’s local clinical partners.
As the flagship statewide, public, academic health system, the mission of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is to bring the benefits of the health sciences to the achievement and maintenance of human health, with a focus on the citizens of Tennessee and the region, by pursuing an integrated program of education, research, clinical care, and public service. Employing more than 6,000 people on its faculty, staff and not-for-profit corporation faculty practice groups, UTHSC contributes more than $2.7 billion to the economy of Tennessee.
In 1911, the University of Tennessee launched its Memphis campus, dedicating it solely to health science education and research. Seed programs in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy quickly flourished, and within a few short years, new programs were initiated in health professions, graduate health sciences and nursing. Each of those programs grew to become a college in its own right.
About Australia Event Host – USC
The University of the Sunshine Coast were the host of SimGHOSTS’ inaugural Australian event in 2014 and we are delighted to return to their campus for our 2018 event . USC’s innovative physical spaces cater for shifts in student mobility, changes in teaching practice and the adoption of new and emerging technological tools.
The USC campus boasts a $37m Engineering Learning Hub with one of only four 3D CAVE2 visualization studios in the world. The campus also features state of the art simulated nursing and paramedic labs; specialized computer, science, manufacturing and design labs; and a range of interactive digital learning spaces.
About Special 2018 Australia Partners Simulation Australasia / ASSH / Serious Games
In an effort to build upon international relationships to support the global healthcare simulation community, SimGHOSTS is pleased to announce our special partners for the 2018! SimGHOSTS could not be more excited to support and collaborate with Simulation Australasia, Australian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (ASSH), and Serious Games Australia.
In 2018 the Simulation Australasia membership requested a specialized and focused meeting for those engaging with simulation specifically in healthcare. Having previously provided three Australia-based events of a smaller scope than the massive combined audiences of all Simulation Australasia industries (healthcare, military, aviation, mining, and more), SimGHOSTS was the perfect fit to help manage and primarily coordinate the 2018 Simulation Australasia meeting.
With an eye towards the future, Kirrian Steer, SimGHOSTS Operations Manager, said “This collaborative event will bring together simulation champions from a variety of clinical, educational, managerial and technical backgrounds enabling attendees to best network, learn, and share with one another and our specialized vendor industry.”
