“At the recent Health Sciences Building grand opening on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus, simulation was the main attraction. Not only does the new building house the various health related students like nursing, medical, physician’s assistant, and medical laboratory technology; it is also home to the new Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center (IHSSC).  The Simulation in Action video shown during the grand opening highlights the different health professions, as well as a community partnership with LifeMed Alaska. LifeMed Alaska provides the most comprehensive medevac services in Alaska with transport services for adult, pediatric, neonate, and high risk obstetric patients. The IHSSC is also partnering with local hospitals to support continuing education for current health care providers through simulation practice. We are excited to utilize our new simulation home to bring these programs together under one roof. This provides more opportunities for interprofessional simulation, allowing learners from various health fields to integrate theory and practice. It’s just another day at the office for us – saving simulated lives – one day at a time!”
